The Harris County District Clerk's Web site conforms to the initiatives recommended by the Rehabilitation Act of 1998 Section 508. In 1998, President Clinton signed into law amendments to Section 508 of the Rehabilitation Act that requires that persons with disabilities are able to access electronic and information technology provided by the federal government. The final rule was issued on December 21, 2000, and contains the standards for accessible electronic and information technology that is at the heart of Section 508.
