Medical

The Harris County medical plan is offered through Aetna and affords you the opportunity to choose any doctor or other health provider. Whether you use in-network or out-of-network benefits depends on where and from whom you receive your care. This plan does not require PCP selection or referrals for specialists.

Dental

Harris County employees have the option of choosing either a DHMO plan or Indemnity plan for their dental care.

Vision

The Harris County Vision Care Program is offered through Spectera Insurance Company.

Life Insurance and Accidental Death and Dismemberment

Life insurance and accidental death and dismemberment (AD&D) insurance provide protection for your family in the event of your death or accidental injury. The county provides a basic level of insurance to eligible employees and your covered dependents at no cost.

Optional Term Life

You also have the opportunity to increase the level of your insurance, based on your annual salary at competitive group rates.

Long Term Disability

Long-Term Disability insurance (LTD) is designed to provide financial support to you and your family in case you become disabled and cannot work because of a covered injury or illness.
